Less is More: Helping a Member Downsize Packaging While Increasing Shelf Impact

MEMBER CHALLENGE

A prominent dairy member had a “clear” goal: to transition their single serve line into a sleeker, see-through bottle to improve shelf impact. Specifically, the company sought their production line from an opaque bottle with a full body shrink sleeve label decoration to a clear bottle with an alternative decoration process. The company also hoped that, as added benefits, a clear bottle would use less raw material and facilitate a more cost-effective print technology.

THE SOURCE WURX SOLUTION

The dairy partnered with Source Wurx, an unbiased supplier capable of drawing from multiple print sources, and for utilizing deep industry expertise to educate customers on the pros and cons of various available print technologies.

Once the dairy team defined the project’s goals, Source Wurx set to work providing mock-ups and ideations that were intentionally minimalist – a means of showcasing the new see-through packaging strategy. The revamped packaging types that Source Wurx suggested comprised various on-trend ink and coating concepts in multiple sizes, all in clear bottles. The dairy member selected a pressure-sensitive label decoration to accompany the new see-through bottles. From there, the Source Wurx team introduced appropriate labeling equipment suppliers capable of seamlessly bringing its recommendations to reality.
